     VALLEYS

SIND VALLEY

(HIMALAYAN SUB VALLEY)

Waipio Valley

(Hawaii)

What are they?

Areas of low land between mountains.

How are they made?

They can be

u-Shaped or

v-Shaped.

Valleys are created by rivers and streams that flow through an area. The shape of a valley can change from a "V" to a "U" as more water flows through it and cuts away more of the valley floor and land.

Did you know?

Giant valleys are called rifts. An example of this is the Great Rift Valley in Africa.

Mountains valleys have vertical walls that stand close to one another. Only a small channel runs between them.

Valleys in plains have shallow, sloping sides and a wide channel.
